NEW JERSEY — An autopsy is set to be conducted Monday in the fatal shooting of a New Jersey medical examiner that left at least nine people dead and four injured, the New Jersey Medical Examiner’s Office announced.
The shooting happened early Sunday morning in the Bronx neighborhood of Brownsville, just west of Hoboken, New Jersey, police said.
A man who had been shot in the abdomen was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital in Newark.
He later died, officials said.
Police have said the shooting happened after a confrontation with a man in the parking lot of a strip mall.
Police are searching for the man who fired the shots, who is described as black and about 30 to 35 years old.
They are also investigating whether the shooting was an act of terrorism.
No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting, police told The Associated Press.
